Refrigerators
When choosing the refrigerator for your kitchen, it is important to take into account some factors in order to get the most out of the appliance:
- Two-door refrigerators with the freezer on top usually have a single motor, which means that the freezing capacity is lower than other types of refrigerators, as the compressor works for both the refrigeration area and the freezer.
- The so-called combis (refrigerator in the upper part and freezer in the lower part) usually have 2 compressors, which facilitates the freezing and defrosting tasks.
- It is advisable to leave enough space on the sides and top of any refrigerator so as not to hinder the ventilation system of the appliance. Think well about the location of the refrigerator before making the purchase.
It is also advisable to choose refrigerators with the No Frost system, which prevents the creation of frost.
Appliance manufacturers are increasingly making use of the space in their refrigerators, for example by incorporating external ice cube and water dispensers. And if you have space in the kitchen (and a large family), side by side sets are ideal, combining a fridge and a freezer, both of the same height and width, thus doubling the capacity.
Always remember that an appliance with a high energy rating (A) will help you save on your energy bill, and will also help to respect the environment. For example, an A+++ class refrigerator can save 3 times the difference in the purchase price of a lower classification refrigerator.
